Recent Advances in Mobile Communication Network Security
The landscape of mobile networks has been evolving so rapidly. Over the last decades, 3G/4G achieved unprecedented success thanks to its advancement in IP for all, and high-speed, mobile and ubiquitous Internet access. Compared with 3G/4G, 5G now makes significant advances in terms of connectivity, data rate and latency, which shifts from the conventional people-to-people to the modern people-to-things and things-to-things communication paradigm. As the next standardization focus, 6G will further build a ubiquitous network that realizes the integrated communication of air, space, earth and sea, boost the data rate 100 X faster than that of 5G, enable machine intelligence through AI, and many others. Expectedly, 6G will have much broader application prospects such as virtual or augmented reality, Internet of Things, Industrial Internet, unmanned driving, and smart factories.
In the development of 4G/5G/6G mobile networks, a number of new network technologies, such as software defined network (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), cloud/fog computing, network slicing, and edge computing, have emerged. On the one hand, these technologies have indeed brought functional advancements to the mobile networks, but on the other hand, they also breed new challenges to security and privacy protection. Traditional network security solutions, unsurprisingly, could become ineffective or obsolete under modern attacking vectors to those novel network technologies. To address this issue, the emerging technologies such as big data, machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI), and blockchain may shed a new light.
Inspired by the above, this feature topic welcomes submissions of high-quality research papers capturing the state-of-the-art advances in 4G/5G/6G mobile network security. Prospective authors are cordially invited to submit their novel results on topics including but not limited to:
● Physical layer security
● Access authentication in mobile networks
● Security technology in core networks
● Seamless secure handover and roaming
● Fine-grained auditing and billing
● IoT security technologies
● Security mechanisms in space-ground integrated information network
● Blockchain enabled network security
● Edge computing aided mobile network security enhancement
● SDN/NFV/Slicing security
● Privacy preserving computing in mobile networks
● ML/AI for mobile network security

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
This feature topic “Advances in Mobile Network Security” welcomes submissions of high-quality novel research results capturing the state-of-the-art advances in 4G/5G/6G mobile network security. All submissions will be anonymously peer reviewed and will be evaluated on the basis of their technical content. Potential topics of interest include, but not limited to areas listed above.
Papers should be submitted in two separate .doc files (preferred) or .pdf files: 1) Main Document (including paper title, abstract, key words, and full text); 2) Title page (including paper title, author affiliation, acknowledgement and any other information related with the authors’ identification) through the Manuscript Central. Please register or login at http://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/chinacomm, then go to the author center and follow the instructions there. Remember to select “Feature Topic: Advances in Mobile Network Security, JuneIssue 2022” as your manuscript type when submitting; otherwise, it might be considered as a regular paper.
Each submission must be accompanied by the following information:
● An abstract of about 150 words
● 3-8 keywords
● Original photographs with high-resolution (300 dpi or greater); eps. or tif. format is preferred; sequentially numbered references.
