Communication-Sensing-Computing Integration Technologies in
the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) / Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)

Aiming to improve traffic safety and efficiency, the Internet of vehicles (IoV, or vehicle-to-everything, V2X) is regarded as the basic enabling technology for intelligent transportation systems and advanced automatic driving in the future. IoV/V2X has attracted great attention in both academia and industry. Using in-vehicle communication, vehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle mobile Internet , the IoV/V2X organically combines "people, vehicle, and road into cloud computing systems" to provide sensing, computing and communication capabilities for driving decision-making and vehicle control. In IoV/V2X and intelligent connected vehicles, the sensing range and ability provided by a single vehicle is rather limited. Accurate sensing should thus be enhanced through V2X communications. The massive data obtained by vehicle perception needs to be reduced to adapt the roadside and vehicle computing power. Due to the limited computing power of a single vehicle, the computing task needs to be offloaded to the cloud and / or edge computing systems. All surrounding vehicles and traffic information in the area need to be optimized. Therefore, the dependence among communication perception and computing urgently requires an integrated innovative technology. Although some excellent works, such as C-V2X (Cellular vehicle-to-everything), have been done in this exciting area, more studies are needed for the mechanism, framework, protocol and algorithm of communication, perception and computing fusion technology. We thus need to consider a variety of factors, including the mobility of vehicles, complex interferences, different quality of services (QoS) for diverse operations, computing power differences between vehicles and roadside facilities, and heterogeneity of computing facilities.
